Paris - Part 2

Our flight from Ouagadougou to Paris went without any problems. Two days in Paris were built into the schedule to provide an opportunity for us to share and reflect as a team after leaving Africa but prior to returning to our lives in the United States. Most of the team did not get much sleep on the plane so we were all very tired when we arrived to Paris at 6:00 AM. Getting through immigration and customs was not a problem but we ran into a delay in getting to the hotel. The reduced luggage achieved by giving away all of the gifts and medical supplies in Burkina allowed us to take the train and Metro to the hotel. During our two days in Paris we were able to see many of the common tourist sights. These included the highlights of the Louvre, the Eifel Tower, Arc De Triumphe, Av des Champes-Elysees, and Notre Dame. Laura did a masterful job of navigating us through the Metro system throughout our time in Paris. During the meals we included time to share our individual stories, experiences, and thoughts from our time together in Burkina. In the end we did not get to reflect on the time in Burkina as much as I’d like. Admittedly it was difficult as most all of us were rather exhausted at the tail end of the 3 ½ weeks together.
